celebrating Christmas in the village

The cold weather didn’t stop the participants from celebrating Christmas in the village on Saturday, December 10th.
Onset Bay Association executive director Kat Jones said the Onset Bay Association has been spending Christmas in the village since 1992.
Candy markers help passers-by listen to carols, do crafts and take pictures with Santa and Frosty the Snowman at Marc Anthony’s Pizza.
Twenty-five local businesses open their doors to holiday shoppers and offer activities such as writing letters to Santa Claus.
“Community bonding is the spirit of the season,” said Onset Bay Association board member Amanda Cobb.
Village visitors ride the holiday tram from the Spinney Library to the Glen Cove Hotel, while Victorian-dressed Christmas carols sing classics such as Jingle Bells and White Christmas. They passed Dudley Square, where a talking Christmas tree greeted passers-by with a seasonal cheer.
The Buzzards Bay Coalition opens its doors to chill out celebrants with merchandise from local vendors and a craft event with Dianne Enzian of Dianna’s Art Farm.
Master Caleb Green is not afraid to get his hands dirty by wrapping glue bottles in red tissue paper.
“I’m going to use it as a reading lamp,” Green says excitedly, showing off the finished product with deer stickers and pipe brushes.
